Born in Greece, Dimitri's love of art formulated during his childhood years, incessantly drawing at the age of six and moving on to oil paintings at the age of twelve. Having studied in Greece and Germany, Dimitri says, " I learned my skills as I went along, developing my own technique. During the painting process, I focus on certain areas of the subject and interject my own ideas of composition, content or color to achieve the emotional feelings I am trying to convey."

Dimitri moved to Virginia in his early 20's, and has since then exhibited his work in juried group shows and one man shows in the United States and Europe. He has owned and operated an art gallery and custom picture framing shop in Yorktown, Virginia for over 32 years.

Beautiful, elegant, knowledgable, defiant, sexual. These are just but a few words to describe the female subjects in Dimitri's paintings. Each character represents an idealized visual representation of femininity, bonded together through Dimitri's unique brushwork and color palette. The viewer is invited into each of the female's world, left to their own devices to pick up clues about her personality in each painting.
